8 to 11 in (20 to 28 cm); 18 to 21 lb (8 to 9.5 kg). The hind legs are longer than the front legs. Colors are mustard (all shades of reddish brown), pepper (all shades of blue/gray). Puppies tend to be darker than adults.
Rough coat with a silky topknot. High maintenance; brush three times a week with a pin brush. Does best with professional care and periodic stripping or plucking, especially for the show dog. Light shedding.
Intervertebral disk disease, elbow problems.
Moderate to high.
Can adapt to any living situation.
Bonds to one person. Fairly good with children, especially if socialized early. Some are shy or unfriendly with strangers. Aggressive with other pets.
Average; may try to dominate owner.
